We are honored you are interested in how we do ministry with our kids at Bethany. As the church looked at our mission, we realized that working with our youngest folks could not be an afterthought. It is a vital part of who we are.
Our mission is summed up in one work: LIFE.
- The letter “L” stands for “love every child.” It may sound simple, but we do strive to make every child feel loved and cared for.
- The “I” is for “involve families.” We firmly believe that those people who have regular contact with their kids must take a lead role in the child’s spirtual development.
- The “F” means “focus on the Word.” Every child, preschool through sixth grade, studies the same Bible story each Sunday morning. This lesson is based on a monthly Biblical virtue, its definition and a memory verse. This approach allows us to have the greatest impact on the young lives we touch for God.
- Finally, the “E” stands for “expect change.” God accepts us right where we are, but doesn’t expect us to stay there. We want, we expect, changed lives.
We want you to know we work hard at making your child’s morning with us a great one. The morning is filled with different events each service time. Therefore, it takes your child being here both service times for them to experience all the aspects of the day we have for them.
Caring individuals staff this nursery area made just for the little one(s) in your life. It is located at the bottom of the second ramp and is staffed during both services.
As our children grow, their needs change. So does our programming. This area offers two separate rooms to help with the developing mind and body of your child. It is located between the two ramps west of the worship center and is staffed during both services.
A full morning is in store for your youngster in our preschool department. During the 9:00 a.m. service, the children spend time in their L.I.F.E. groups. This allows the kids and their leaders to get to know one another. The leaders will use activities and creative teaching tools to present the morning’s Bible story, as they lead the children through the Bible from Genesis to Acts. They will also participate in a time of worship. During our 10:30 a.m. service, the morning’s Bible lesson will be revisited briefly and activities will follow to reinforce that lesson. This area is located in the children’s wing and is staffed during both services. It can be reached by entering at the small canopy at the south entrance, going down the steps, and to the right. From the Worship Center, come down both ramps and into the tiled hallway. Turn left and go to the end of the hall.
Harvest Land: Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2
Our kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders spend their entire morning in this area. Age appropriate L.I.F.E. groups fill the 9:00 a.m. service. Leaders use this time to get to know the children in their weekly group. They also use activities to introduce the morning’s Bible lesson. That lesson, along with a time of worship planned just for this group, takes place during the 10:30 a.m. service. Activities which reinforce the morning’s lesson finish out the morning. Harvest Land is on the first level of the children’s wing near the south entrance.
Grades 3 & 4
Our elementary students begin their morning in the Discovery Zone. This time is filled with activities which introduce the morning’s theme and Bible lesson. The remainder of the 9:00 a.m. service is spent in L.I.F.E groups. During the 10:30 a.m. service, the morning Bible lesson is presented by a skilled teacher. The morning ends with a time to express our hearts to God through worship. The Discovery Zone is located on the second floor of the children’s wing.
Sunday mornings for our intermediate students begin in their L.I.F.E. groups. The guys will meet with their leaders in room 110 while the girls meet in room 215. These groups meet for the entire 9:00 a.m. service time. Beginning at 10:30, this group will meet together for their main time of Bible teaching in room 220. Their day will close with a time of worship in the Discovery Zone.
