Bethany Support

Care Ministry:

Our Care Ministry Team looks after and visits with our shut-ins of the church. Marcia McKowen leads this group, who makes monthly visits to shut-ins, delivering communion as requested. They also do special projects at holidays and hold a meeting the fourth Tuesday of March and September.

Bereavement Support Ministry:

Bethany Christian Church has sponsored a Bereavement Support Group since January, 1993.  We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room and have a variety of programs throughout the year (special speakers, grief recovery videos, memorial services, and times of sharing).  Our group is made up of people who have experienced significant losses of loved ones.    Our regular counselor/facilitator is Dick True, a well-established chaplain, counselor and pastor in the Anderson area.  Please feel free to join us.  The ministry is offered to the community at no charge.  If you have questions about our ministry, please call the church office (765-643-5713).

Divorce Care:

This is a class for people who are separated or divorced. We use a video each week followed by a discussion. Meetings are held in the church library at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday from mid-September to mid-December. Workbooks are $12.00 and are the only expense.

Blessings Class:

The Blessings Sunday School is a self-contained classroom designed to meet the needs of children with special needs. Our mission is two-fold: (1) provide parents/caregivers of a child with special needs access to worship with other adults, and, (2) present the gospel in a way that is accessible to any child with special needs. The Blessings Sunday School class meets every week during the second service in the room across from the nursery. This class is designed for children with special needs who would normally attend Sonshine Station, Promise Land, or graded departments. The Blessings ministry also has volunteers who pair 1:1 with special needs children during Vacation Bible Xtreme in an effort to mainstream each child into the regular programming of VBX. In addition, an appropriate opening and closing session is provided for special needs children complete with Music Therapy. Please note that reservations are required. Please contact the church office so we can assess your child’s exact needs and abilities so we can develop a plan for them.

Deaf Ministry:

At the Welcome Center, both print copies of the sermon and amplifiers are available.  Lyrics to worship songs will be shown on the screen.
